Brother and Sisters - Kevin and Scotty 11/15/2010
So I am bit sad that they wrapped up the Scotty cheating storyline so quickly. It was a very brief bleep on the entirety of their relationship rather than a major relationship changing event. Part of me likes the fact that they showed them resolve things and stuck together, especially since they are a gay couple and could have easily said all gay men cheat. Another part of me hates that it happened so quickly with only one brief conversation being held. True couples spend months if not years working through affairs. Now Kevin has already mentioned being so turned on by Scotty and the family has backed up Scotty so much that its as if the affair never happened. Well at least they are still together and we can look forward to seeing more of them as they move forward with their lives.

Daddy's boy
So this is one of my favorite gay short films. Hard to tell the storyline without blowing it, so you just have to watch, lol.. I will work on adding more gay short films.

Glee Gayness
So I have become a fan of Glee for many reasons, the amazing singing and dancing being the chief reasons. I also love that one of the co-creators, Ryan Murphy is openly gay, has a partner, and uses many gay actors on the show, including Chris Colfer, Neil Patric Harris and Jane Lynch. The sexy men also helps keep the show a top rated series.
Most recently, Glee became much more gay with the advent of the new openly gay character Blaine, played by super cute Darren Criss, and the meterosexual, body continuous Sam. If these two were not gay enough, in the same episode in which Blaine appears for the first time we discover the reason that football jock David has been harassing Curt was due to his own confusion and/or possibly budding homosexuality. While this might seem somewhat cliche to folks, I like the storyline because it proves the gay men come from all walks of life. Kurt, played by the wonder actor Chris Colfer, is rather effeminate, paying close attention to fashion and all things pop diva related. On the opposite spectrum, you have David, who is the butch closeted football player. Then their is Blaine. He appears to be right down the middle between ultra effeminate Kurt and super masculine David. The show is demonstrating that no matter how effeminate or masculine you are, the road to discovering your sexual orientation, coming out and being open about who you are a difficulty one. This could not come at a better time with all the bullying and teen suicide, much of which has been related to young people who were gay or perceived to be gay. I hope continuing these story-lines will allow for more comfort with gay people as well as challenge some people's views of what it means to be a man, in particular, a gay man.
On a related note, I feel that Max Adler, who plays David, did a wonderful job in the episode. He did not hold back and you could see the anguish on his face and in his actions. He showed the vulnerability of the character, along with his conflicting desires to kiss Kurt he wanted to hurt him as well. In an effort to deal with his own emotional pain, he is using physical pain against an openly gay teen to squash his internal feelings of homophobia. I look forward to seeing how this storyline plays out and more acting from Mr. Adler.

Brothers and Sisters - Kevin and Scotty
So recently I caught up on watching Brothers and Sisters via youtube. God bless the inventor of youtube and the poster of the videos. I was able to catch up on most of the happenings with the walker clan via the video series Brothers and Sisters - Kevin and Scotty story.
I liked how when Jason Lewis character resurfaced, Kevin and Scotty initially resisted his offer and were able to discuss it after Sara interrupted them. It showed their solidarity as a monogamous couple. As a result of this belief in their monogamy, I was saddened when in the episode that aired a little over two weeks ago,, Scotty revealed that he had an affair a few months prior. This saddened me as Scotty always seemed like the rock on their relationship. I didn't particularly like how the writers made this a past event, as it took away from some of the pain associated with the infidelity and made it easy for them to make it a two episode repair job. As a Marriage and Family Therapist in training, I know that affairs are one of the most difficult things for couples to overcome. It is also likely that the family of the person who was cheated on would not come to the aid of the person who cheated. That being said, I do want to applaud the writers for showing that affairs are not just one sighted. They showed that Kevin had been neglecting Scotty and put his own self-hatred and sadness before his relationship. Thus Scotty felt abandoned and moved toward someone who could give him a connection on his special day. Oh, and I sort of wish just on a purely sexual note, we could have seen the affair in action, that seen could have been hot but also very emotionally painful for viewers.
