New Gay Show - The New Normal

I just saw a preview clip of a new show airing this fall on NBC. Its called The New Normal. Its about a gay male couple wanting to have a child and the relationship they form with their surrogate. It seems like a sweet show and the sexy Justin Bartha plays one of the gay men. I am excited to check this show out and commend NBC for doing a show about a gay male relationship and proving "love is love" as the surrogate says when asked about giving birth to a child to be raised by gay men.

There is also reportedly another gay related show starting Michael Urie of Ugly Betty fame called Partners also coming out.  Will keep tabs on both these shows as  the fall season approaches.  With the axing of GCB, we need all the gay shows and characters we can get!

GCB Canceled

GCB is unofficially canceled.  Internet sources have posted information from cast members, such as Leslie Bibs' site that indicate GCB has been canceled by ABC.  This is sad for multiple reasons.  This show had the chance to be a gay fav with all the campyness and the hot guys, especially, Matt Deklin who played Blake, a married gay man in a open relationship with his wife.  Deklin was smoking hot!  The show also featured other hotties such as ex-Jag star, David James Elliot and former soap opera actor, Eric Winter.  I am thinking about starting a petition on this site, or maybe Facebook to try to save the show.  If anyone read this post and thinks its a good idea, please leave me info in the comments.

Klaine on Glee/Whitney

Just watched the Glee episode featuring the music Whitney Houston.  I loved the opening number, but truth be told, I was not a fan of the numbers by Darren Criss or Chris Colfer.  While I generally like both of these guys and think their amazingly talented, I felt the songs just didn't work well for their voices.  As for their storyline, they had major DRAMA on the Kurt and Blaine front and it was actually hard to know where it was going to end.  The unpredictable aspect made for an interesting ride throughout the episode.  While I am sad to see the familiar faces leaving the canvass, I think they started the goodbye process on Glee a bit too early.  It feels a bit forced, like they should have focused on the Nationals prep and shown that then transitioned into the goodbye episodes.  I am hoping that next season, Tina and Artie will become front and center of the series, but only time will tell.

Eating Out: Open Weekend Review

I just watched Eat Out: Open Weekend, the newest movie in the Eating Out series.  This one, despite the trailer indicating it would have lot of sex, actually holds back a lot; especially in contrast to the previous one, Eating Out: Drama Camp.  The storyline is a bit better though, with moments of heart and dialogue, that while a bit idealistic, provides positive messages to explore relationships and body image.  These are messages that more gay themed films can get on board with.

The acting is better by some than others and while only in the movie for a minute, the woman who is performing wedding ceremonies steals the show in her scenes.  I love the fact that there is a trans identified person played by a trans actress.  As always, seeing the gorgeous and now more hairy chested Chris Salvatore is a nice treat.

The editing and scene changes are a bit predictable at times.  It also has a lot of stereotypical cliches but attempts to verbalize breaking down of such stereotypical behaviors in the gay community.  The ending is sweet but predictable, as with all the Eating Out series.  However, if you are a fan of nearly and actually completely naked men and camp, you will love this film.

Gays of our lives

Well, when one door closes another opens.  Fans of the soap world lost the gay relationship story between Luke and Noah then Luke and Reid in 2010, but as of 2011 they started the process of grieving and watching another gay man come out.  Will Horton of Days of Our Lives started the process of figuring out his sexuality last year.  However, it wasn't until this year that he actually began to come out, first to his grandmother Marlena, then to his openly gay friend, Sonny (possibly his future love interest) and most recently his ex-girlfriend.  Below you will find the link to the most recent video, which shows Will coming out to his ex-girlfriend, Gabby.  I am also attaching the first in the youtube video series, so that those who wish to watch it from the start can do so.

Glee Trans Story

This week Glee had a great story about a trans character named Wade/Unique.  The character went to Mercedes and Kurt for advise.  The two initially provide him what they feel is bad advise but then after coach Sue suggest they support his desire to dress as a female during a performance, they bring him a silver pair of high heeled shoes curteousy of Sue.  They attempt to get him to back out of his decision before the competition but he not only appears, rocks the house.  The actor who plays Wade/Unique, Alex Newell, first appeared on the Glee Project.  This young man can clearly sing and dance.  I loved his energy and presence as this character.   He brought a genuine quality to the character that could have been played out in a sensationalized way.  Credits go to the writers for bring on this character and I hope they have her returning soon.  Here is a link to the video of Unique performing Boogie Shoes.

1 Girl 5 Gays

So I recently came across this show on Logo. The host, Aliya-Jasmine, interviews 5 gay men about topics related to love and sex. Several of the guys are hot, including: Dean, Ian "8-inch Lynch", Jake, Simon, and David. The show has funny moments as well as sad moments. I would love to become a panelist and am in pursuit of this. Here is a link to MTV's website for the show.
