This week Glee had a great story about a trans character named Wade/Unique. The character went to Mercedes and Kurt for advise. The two initially provide him what they feel is bad advise but then after coach Sue suggest they support his desire to dress as a female during a performance, they bring him a silver pair of high heeled shoes curteousy of Sue. They attempt to get him to back out of his decision before the competition but he not only appears, rocks the house. The actor who plays Wade/Unique, Alex Newell, first appeared on the Glee Project. This young man can clearly sing and dance. I loved his energy and presence as this character. He brought a genuine quality to the character that could have been played out in a sensationalized way. Credits go to the writers for bring on this character and I hope they have her returning soon. Here is a link to the video of Unique performing Boogie Shoes.
