I just watched Eat Out: Open Weekend, the newest movie in the Eating Out series. This one, despite the trailer indicating it would have lot of sex, actually holds back a lot; especially in contrast to the previous one, Eating Out: Drama Camp. The storyline is a bit better though, with moments of heart and dialogue, that while a bit idealistic, provides positive messages to explore relationships and body image. These are messages that more gay themed films can get on board with.
The acting is better by some than others and while only in the movie for a minute, the woman who is performing wedding ceremonies steals the show in her scenes. I love the fact that there is a trans identified person played by a trans actress. As always, seeing the gorgeous and now more hairy chested Chris Salvatore is a nice treat.
The editing and scene changes are a bit predictable at times. It also has a lot of stereotypical cliches but attempts to verbalize breaking down of such stereotypical behaviors in the gay community. The ending is sweet but predictable, as with all the Eating Out series. However, if you are a fan of nearly and actually completely naked men and camp, you will love this film.
The brown print on a brown background was hard to read, so I pressed cntl-A to highlight everything, and the white print on a blue background was easier to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thought. I will look at editing the format. I had it on a blue background before but wanted to try something a bit different.
