Brother and Sisters - Kevin and Scotty 11/15/2010
So I am bit sad that they wrapped up the Scotty cheating storyline so quickly. It was a very brief bleep on the entirety of their relationship rather than a major relationship changing event. Part of me likes the fact that they showed them resolve things and stuck together, especially since they are a gay couple and could have easily said all gay men cheat. Another part of me hates that it happened so quickly with only one brief conversation being held. True couples spend months if not years working through affairs. Now Kevin has already mentioned being so turned on by Scotty and the family has backed up Scotty so much that its as if the affair never happened. Well at least they are still together and we can look forward to seeing more of them as they move forward with their lives.

Chris, in a later episode Justin was talking with Kevin about the break-up and reconciliation. Justin asked Kevin if everything was okay now. Kevin responded that they are getting there, but still have some ups and downs. I liked this piece because it showed that their reconciliation was not a done deal, but they had more work ahead of them. Scotty's "mistake" would not be quickly forgotten, but I feel that Kevin would eventually forgive Scotty. I think Kevin realized after that one scene that he literally was sucking all the oxygen out of the room. I liked that way of characterizing Kevin's selfishness and controlling attitude.

ReplyDeleteI did like how they showed that an affair has many parts and its not all on the one who cheated. They showed that Kevin was being emotionally distant from his partner, which drove his partner to seek validation elsewhere. This is more of an accurate depiction of how an affair typically plays out.
